Anexo:Sistemas de taxonomía vegetal

Esta lista de sistemas de taxonomía vegetal presenta una cronología de los “sistemas taxonómicos” usados en clasificación botánica.

Un sistema taxonómico es un aparato taxonómico coherente de juzgamientos taxonómicos de circunscripciones y de agrupamientos en taxones considerados. Es solo un “sistema” si se lo aplica a un gran grupo de tales taxones (por ejemplo, todas las fanerógamas).

Hay dos criterios principales para esta lista:

1. el sistema debe ser taxonómico, y que ajuste a un gran número de plantas, por su nombre botánico
2. debe ser un sistema, i.e. interrelacione las especies. Aunque la historia acerca de relaciones botánicas comenzó muy temprano (ver historia de la sistemática vegetal), tales sistemas realmente solo se explicitaron en el siglo XX, a resultas de un inmenos flujo de nuevas especies de todo el mundo. Y desde el siglo XVIII comenzaron los primeros sistemas, precursores de los más completos sistemas taxonómicos.

Un evento liminar fue la publicación de Species Plantarum por el insigne Linneo que sirvió de arranque de la nomenclatura binomial botánico. Por su tamaño calificaría para esta lista, pero no presenta relaciones taxonómicas, salvo hasta géneros.

Nótese que un sistema no es necesariamente monolítico y con frecuencia pasa por varios estadios de desarrollo, resultando en versiones del mismo sistema. Cuando un sistema es vastamente adoptado, muchos autores lo adoptan con sus propias particulares versiones de tal sistema. El sistema Cronquist se ocupa únicamente de las plantas con flores pero es bien conocido por existir en muchas versiones.
